Greetings!  My name is Lea Kraatz and I am an artist in Calgary, Alberta.  I grew up on an acreage just outside of Edmonton where I was fortunate enough to also be raised on my grandparents’ farm.

 

Experiencing the beauty of the prairies, and influenced by rural life, I have a great love for animals, and the landscapes of not only my home province, but the neighboring ones as well.  In my art, I try to capture an energy through my bush work and layers of texture to allow the viewer multiple levels of interest and engagement.

 

Through the use of vibrant colors and experimenting with different media and the application of paint, I feel the process is as important as the product.  My goal is to have the viewer feel the same joy and delight while looking at my paintings that I experienced while creating them.
